Effects of child abuse on children's growth

Save the Children is one of India’s most trusted NGOs for the advocacy of children’s rights. Since 2008, it has improved the lives of over 10 million children in India. Founded in 1919 with the purpose of protecting and promoting the rights of children, Save the Children firmly believes that every child deserves to lead a happy, safe and secure life. In India, it is registered as the ‘Bal Raksha Bharat’. Save the Children is dedicated to protecting all vulnerable children from child abuse and the effects of child abuse. This Non-Government organisation is dedicated to ensuring that every child not only survives but thrives. It runs multiple programmes targeted towards proving impoverished children with access to education, healthcare and nutrition. Save the Children engages with various communities, parents and children to spread awareness on the issue of child abuse, as well as the effects of child abuse. This organisation seeks to protect marginalised children from all forms of harm, neglect, abuse, and violence. Globally, Save the Children has an established presence in over 80 countries. It is able to carry out its social outreach programmes thanks to the support it receives from its generous individual donors, institutional supporters, and corporate sponsors. Child abuse can be defined as any form of physical harm, maltreatment, neglect, abuse or injury afflicted on a child below the age of 18.
Child abuse causes great harm to the well-being and development of children. The effects of child abuse include deep trauma, which can affect a child’s physical, mental and psychological well-being. Child abuse is an absolutely heinous act, and there are various provisions in the Indian legal system to persecute those found guilty of abusing a child. The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012, was established by the Government of India to protect children from child sexual abuse and its subsequent effects of child abuse. A ‘child’ is defined as any individual below the age of 18.  Child abuse often impacts mental and physical health negatively.
Save the Children works with various Government bodies and other NGOs to ensure the protection of children from child abuse, and the effects of child abuse as well. It works dedicatedly to formulate and implement child protection policies. Child protection policies refer to those policies put into effect with the aim of protecting children from various harmful and risky situations. Save the Children works tirelessly to make sure that all children are protected from the effects of child abuse. It runs various programmes to provide underprivileged and impoverished children with access to the education, healthcare, and nutrition they require in order to build better lives for themselves. The organisation seeks to empower children all around the globe.
