Child protection act in India.
All children are vulnerable to various forms of harm, abuse,
neglect, and violence. There are millions of marginalized children in India who
have their rights infringed upon. NGOs like Save the Children work tirelessly
to protect and promote the rights of these children. Since 2008, Save the
Children has worked dedicatedly to transform the lives of over 10 million
children across India. This NGO has been instrumental in establishing various
child protection act. It executes its social welfare programs across 19
states in India.
Save the Children depends on the financial support provided by
its generous donors, institutional supporters, and civic partners to improve
the condition of impoverished children. It works in close collaboration with
various civic bodies to formulate and implement child protection policies and
child protection act. The protection of all children from multiple forms of
physical, mental, and emotional abuse is a priority for the Government of
India. That is why the government of India has set into place several laws and
acts to ensure the protection of children.
The Protection of Children from
Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, is one of the most progressive to combat the
sexual violence that takes place against children. Child protection act
provides legal guidelines to follow in case sexual violence takes place against
a child. These acts and policies dictate the punishment to be awarded to the
individuals found guilty of child sexual abuse. Save the Children promotes the
interests and rights of the most disadvantaged children in around 80 countries
around the globe. It engages with various communities to create awareness on
the rights of children and the importance of the child protection act. It
strives to establish all social evils such as child labour, child abuse, child
marriage, child trafficking, etc. During times of natural disaster, Save the
Children carries out disaster management programs to help those affected.
